Celebrating Moomin-maker Tove Jansson

Tove Jansson 100 years, centenary birthday, Moomins, Moomintroll, painter, artist, author, illustrator, AteneumTove Jansson painted “Party in the City” (1947) as a wall mural. She herself is in the picture, seated at the table in the foreground. A Moomin is visible beside her glass.

The year 2014 marks the centenary of Tove Jansson’s birthday. Her international fame stems from the Moomin adventures, which she wrote and illustrated, but there’s much more to her than that. A major exhibition at Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki highlights Jansson’s artistic versatility.
