Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb is scheduled to attend the WTO Public Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, on 1 October.
Minister Stubb will be taking part in the Opening Plenary Session, which focuses on the role of innovations in the promotion of growth and trade. The session will also be attended by new WTO Director-General, Mr Roberto Azevedo, whom Minister Stubb will also meet privately. In addition Minister Stubb will have discussions with new Secretary General of the United Nations Trade and Development Agency UNCTAD, Dr Mukhisa Kituyi. These discussions will touch upon the Doha round of trade negotiations and the outlook for developing countries in international trade
The WTO Public Forum is an annual event that provides an opportunity for businesses, NGOs, government officials and academics to meet and exchange views on international trade and the international economy. The first Public Forum was held in 2001. The theme for this year’s event is trade and innovation.
