Press release 201/2012
4 September 2012

Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja will visit Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina on 6-7 September.

In Kosovo, Minister Tuomioja will meet with Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj and Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi of Kosovo. Objectives of the visit include reaffirming Finland's support to the international status of Kosovo and its social development after ceasing of controlled independence and reaffirming Finland's support to Kosovo's EU approximation and the continuing of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

Kosovo declared independence on 17 February 2008. Controlled independency of Kosovo will end on 10 September, when the mandate of the International Civilian Office (ICO) ceases.
