Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja had a meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen during his visit in Finland.
The talks touched upon NATO cooperation with the UN and the EU, cooperation between Finland and NATO, situation in Afghanistan and Finland's potential participation in monitoring Iceland's airspace.
Foreign Minister Tuomioja sees is important to continue practical and mutually beneficial cooperation between Finland and NATO. Key forms of cooperation include participation in international crisis management and developing the necessary resources for it. Finland can put the readiness developed in the framework of cooperation between Finland and NATO into use in other forums, such as in the EU, the UN and Nordic cooperation.
