The UN to review the implementation of civil and political rights in Finland

Press release 149/2013
10 July 2013

The implementation of civil and political rights in Finland will be reviewed by the UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva on 12 July. On that day the Committee will consider Finland’s sixth periodic report submitted by virtue of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The Committee has 18 independent and impartial experts.

During the examination of the report, there will be a public dialogue between the Committee and the Finnish delegation. The delegation has representatives from four ministries and from the Constitutional Law Committee of the Finnish Parliament. Civil society organisations have also been able to send their views to the Committee.

The Committee will adopt its concluding observations concerning the implementation of the Covenant in Finland during its session that will end in late July.
