Ski border to border in northern Finland

Border to Border, northern Finland, Kuusamo, Tornio, Haparanda, Russia, Sweden, FinlandA Finnish finish line: Josefin Palmén, a Swedish endurance athlete who also has type one diabetes, flew over from Sweden to participate in the Border to Border event.

In Border to Border, the longest ski event in the world, participants ski more than 440 kilometres (273 miles) across northern Finland in an annual, multiday journey open to all (held from March 6 to 15 in 2014). This is literally cross-country skiing: They start at the Russian frontier and end at the Swedish border.
